Chronic Oro Facial Pain can be due to a variety of causes.
Causes include:
- Dental
- Oral: Burning mouth syndrome, Oral ulceration (e.g. aphthous stomatitis, erosive oral lichen planus, etc.), Oral cancer.
- Persistent idiopathic facial pain (atypical facial pain) and Atypical odontalgia
- Neuropathic pain includes Trigeminal neuralgia, Glossopharyngeal neuralgia, Mental nerve neuralgia.
- Headache: Migraine (atypical and typical), Cluster headache, Tension Type Headache
- Temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD), Eagle syndrome
